Clevenger is a determined 16-year-old whose family faced immense hardship through her father's long battle with tuberculosis. His illness consumed everything the family had, and when he passed away they were left with nothing. To provide for her children, Clevenger's mother found work on the streets. She managed to pay for Clevenger's primary school education, but the cost of high school fees put the next step out of reach.

Through the sponsorship program, Clevenger was able to continue her education. She is lively and joyful, with a smile that settles the people around her. Hardworking and dedicated, she is determined to become one of the first people from her community to attend university, and from there to become a doctor.

School has been paid for since 2024 through the Baskets and Beads Kenya student sponsorship program: fees, uniform, supplies, and mentorship from the Kenya team.

In Clevenger’s words

“Since Baskets and Beads Kenya, I have been able to go back to school and interact with my peers, and now I have a dream.”
